Kevin Jonas talked to Mercury News about his blossoming career how he's happy working in an arena full of screaming kids: 'I think that being part of it, witnessing it firsthand, is much better than working at Starbucks and just
getting by at college.'
Do you feel pressure of having so many people depending on you financially, from your road crew to Disney stockholders? 'We don't really feel pressure. We have a really great system in place and a great team in place that makes it fun everywhere we go.
We know it's a machine, we know it's a big business, and we don't really look
at it that way. We look at it as a great way for us to enjoy the art that we like
to make, and enjoy just the excitement of making new music.'
Ever want to break free from the corporate Disney shackles? 'We were a band way before we ever did anything with Disney. It's been great. The reason we love them is 'cause they let us be who we..
..are. They don't try to change us. They do not pressure us to be anything.
I think that's a common misconception and it's definitely not the way it is.'

For 7-year-old Hannah Kopek, meeting fellow diabetic Nick Jonas was almost as thrilling as raising $1,500 for diabetes research.
Posters of Nick hang all over the of Plainfield girl’s room, broadcasting to the world he is her favorite Jonas Brother. “Because we’re fighting together for a cure for diabetes,” Hannah said. “And because he’s the cutest.”
On July 10, Hannah met the Jonas Brothers backstage at the Allstate Arena in Chicago after winning a drawing for two tickets and passes. The drawing was an incentive for Hannah and walkers like her to form a walk team for the American Diabetes Association’s “Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes” and raise $500 by June 30.
“We were sitting at the airport on our way for vacation in Florida when we learned we won,” said Hannah’s mother, Kristine Kopek. “I never thought she’d win. There were five other walks and so many people competing for the same opportunity. It was kind of a long shot, so we were shocked. She was so excited, I can’t even describe it.”
Although still basking in the thrill of talking to Nick Jonas, Hannah’s focus now is persuading as many people as possible to donate to her team.
Her message is a simple one. “Please support my cause,” Hannah said.
To donate to Hannah’s team — Lil’ Fighters for Life — visit www.diabetes.org/stepout. That team will walk Oct. 3 at Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm in Homer Glen.
Hannah’s problems began last fall when she went through a “picky eater” stage and complained about stomach upset. Kristine sensed a greater problem the day Hannah drank several cartons of milk and asked for more.
“She said she was still thirsty,” Kristine said. “Her blood sugar was so high she was admitted to the ICU.”
The first two months after Hannah’s diagnosis with Type I diabetes was a roller coaster of insulin injections to reduce her blood sugar to normal levels, followed by hypoglycemia and tiny amounts of candy to raise the abnormally low blood sugar levels. An insulin pump eliminated many of these problems
“I’m feeling pretty healthy, but sometimes I don’t feel that well,” Hannah said. “Then my mom checks my blood sugar, gives me Sweet Tarts and checks again. That usually makes me feel better.”
Kristine, too, is encouraged by Hannah’s progress. “She’s like a normal kid who’s able to have a normal lifestyle,” she said. “Her weight went from 37 to 44 pounds.”
Raising money, awareness
To help understand Hannah’s disease, Kristine joined The American Diabetes Association. When she learned about its walk through its monthly magazine, Kris knew she wanted to help.
“For the last three or four years, I took part in Relay for Life with either the walk or the fundraising,” Kristine said. “I had a friend and an aunt that died from cancer, so I felt this was something I wanted to be a part of. We formed Lil’ Fighters for Life with another kid in first grade at another school in the same district. My daughter’s best friend is walking, too.”
After Hannah learned about the Jonas Brothers incentive, she set her sights on the minimum fundraising requirement and forged ahead with her goal. With Kristine, Hannah canvassed her neighborhood and solicited family and friends.
When she attained the coveted $500, Hannah strived for $1,200. When she reached that amount, Hannah again raised her goal.
Kristine said they completed one fundraiser for the walk and are planning a second one.
But, most of all, Kristine is proud of her daughter’s determination and accomplishments.
“She understands a lot for a 7-year-old,” Kristine said.

Mark McLeod, 53, has been arrested for stalking Miley Cyrus in Tybee Island, Georgia, according to WSAV. McLeod often showed up at events involving Miley, including a book signing in March in New York and that police in Los Angeles say McLeod's arrest on Tybee violated a court order.
A police report from Tybee Island Police says on June 22 McLeod was arrested as he stood with a crowd watching the filming of Miley's movie 'The Last Song.' They say McLeod was making 'inappropriate comments' to some of the young females present and that when approached, McLeod became belligerent, started screaming, fought officers who tried to arrest him.
McLeod said he was great friends with Cyrus and she had asked him to come and see her. He had been camping at Tybee for three or four days and that he had observed Miley on her balcony, that he sent her special presents and that he was going to marry Miley and even invited the police officer to the wedding.
Tybee Island's police report indicates that when McLeod was arrested he
stated to booking personnel that he was 'Miley Cyrus' boyfriend and they should contact her before we waste all this time.' McLeod was released from jail, June 23. and is supposed to appear in court on Sept. 1. His whereabouts are now unknown.

Demi Lovato new Associated Press interview: How do you meet boys? I love boys, (laughs) but, you know, at the same time, it's like, I'm not going to go out there and date every single guy that I want. I might, you know, get their number and talk to them a little bit, but there is nothing wrong with that, I'm 16.
I don't really like relationships. I'd rather have a lot of really cute guy friends. That's why, another reason why you never really see me 'with somebody' like for a long time. Cause it's like I'd rather have a lot of really cute guy friends that you can have the attention from by flirting with them, but you don't have to kiss them and you don't have to be tied down to anybody.
On not fitting in as a kid: In middle school I was in the popular clique and looking back on it, it wasn't worth it. I would have rather been happy and not known to anybody, rather than being stuck in a clique of people that it's all drama and gossip and rumors, things like that. It's not
Ever written a song too personal to release? There have been times when it has been way too personal, but I never would release any thing like that. Just keep it on my computer, like keep it in a journal. All of my songs are from personal experiences, but I think you can get a lot out of them. ... It really is what inspires me at the moment.
Was it intimidating writing with John Mayer? It was kind of intimidating actually, because it was hard for me to get the lyrics out, 'What if he thinks this sucks?' ..So I was terrified, but at the same time I was sitting there, I was like, 'This is really cool,' and then every time he did compliment me I would get super excited

After much speculation on the internet, Joe Jonas and Camilla Belle have gone their separate ways.
“Yes, it’s true,” Camilla’s rep tells JustJaredJr.com. “[Joe and Camilla] have broken up. There is no third party involved and they care deeply about each other and will remain friends.”
At the JoBros show in Detroit last night (July 26), Joe was seen shedding some tears.
He also changed the songs lyrics for “Much Better” from “Get a rep for breakin’ hearts, now I’m done with superstars” to “Get a rep for breakin hearts, now I’m done with movie stars.”
Posted by jasminejoejonas at 2:00 PM
He kept saying how much he loved his fans.
I can see why he started crying during this song,
I mean listen to the lyrics.
Camilla meant alot to him <3

joe jonas & camilla belle broke up.
he was, and possibly is still, crying on stage at the concert tonight.
necklace from camilla belle, gone.
i know i've been waiting for them to breakup ever since they were rumored to be together.
but FOR JOE TO CRY ON STAGE ABOUT THIS?!
it's just sadddddddddddddddd );
i mean, on the inside my heart is JUMPING FROM HAPPINESS.
but poor joe!
i'd rather him be happy with camilla belle,
than to be in such a bad emotional state without her ):
i can smell a new song.
i wonder how he felt or will feel when he performs much better.
i mean, that song was for her.
i guess she wasn't much better, huh ?
but that's one of the main songs on the tour,
so what's he gonna do for the rest of the tour ?!
i can't even crack any jomilla jokes right now.
"when you love someone,
and they break your heart,
don't give up on love,
have faith restart, <-- with me joe, with me.
just hold onnnn,"
listen to your own lyrics, joe.
they inspire all of us, and now it's time for you to be inspired by them.
you're gonna be alright joe-bear <3
but i can't help but think.
this happens less than two weeks before my concert ?!
i mean, it's gotta be a sign.
i just hope he feels better :/

Taylor Swift may still be rocking the charts with Fearless, but that doesn't mean that the 19-year-old isn't thinking of what her next album is going to sound like. Swift is already in the planning stages for her follow-up, and she promises this one has a lot of personal inspiration to draw on.
"As soon as I put out my last album, Fearless, the next day I was writing for the next album. So I'm always thinking ahead," she told MTV News. "I love organizing and planning and getting a theme going for the next record."
Swift has a lot of topics she could cover — being a pop star, touring, fame, reading about herself in the gossip pages — but she's not divulging what exactly she'll be touching on in the next LP. "I'm very happy to have that theme, and a lot has happened in the last year that's been very inspiring," she said, adding, "It's a secret."
But if you think that the album will be available at your local record store anytime soon, you're mistaken — Swift, who is currently touring and will be performing at the VMAs in September, is taking her time and making sure she does it right.
"You know, what I love doing is taking a long time to put an album together, because you have these ideas that hit you in the middle of the night and you never know what you can write two weeks before you're supposed to," she explained. "So I like to take a lot of time and really develop an album and take a year and a half ... two years to make an album so that it's not thrown together."
Who would Taylor love to collaborate with on this next album? "Jack White ... 'cause he's awesome," she said about the possibility of working with the White Stripes mastermind. Working with Swift wouldn't be White's first foray into country; the singer/songwriter produced and performed on Loretta Lynn's 2004 album Van Lear Rose. "I love his style," Swift continued. "I love his writing and I think he's an amazing player too, so any kind of collaboration there would be really awesome."

The Jonas Brothers are on the phone and getting a little testy about a line of questioning regarding the jump in ticket prices for the current tour from $47.50 to $89.50.
Kevin, the oldest JoBro at 21, is explaining a theater-in-the-round stage concept he helped design that makes the front rows stretch the whole length of the arena.
“OK,” the reporter in the teleconference says. “But how do you explain the ticket price in this economy?”
“I think essentially,” Nick, 16, jumps in, “we wanted to find a way to provide a bigger and better show for our fans, and this was one of the ways we had to do so.”
“OK,” the reporter persists. “So you don’t have any concern about the ticket price?”
Jonas BrothersWith: Jordin Sparks, The Honor Society.Where: Mellon Arena. When: 7 p.m. Saturday.Tickets: Sold out.“Sir,” Nick says sternly. “I think you’ve asked your follow-up question. We’d like to move on. Thank you very much.”
Maybe this will help clear it up. It takes a team of 180 people — 80 traveling with the tour and 100 locally — up to 10 hours to construct the 140-foot-long stage, which travels in 19 trucks. There are 13 buses for the backing band and crew, and the Jonases are traveling with their parents on a leased 767.
There’s your $89.50.
Brothers Breakin’ out
Two years ago, the Jonas Brothers — a nearly self-contained group more akin to Hanson than ‘N Sync — were playing the Palace Theatre and a year before that, the Rex Theatre on the South Side.
Things weren’t looking so good then. The three musical brothers from New Jersey, originally a solo project for Nick, were signed to Columbia Records in 2005, released a delayed debut album in 2006 and were summarily dropped by the label in 2007.
Bad move, Columbia.
Hollywood Records picked up the JoBros and hitched them to Hannah Montana’s rising star, with an appearance on her TV show and an opening slot on her tour.
“I think the Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus tour being our first arena tour was a big learning experience for us,” says Nick, who doubles as Cyrus’ boyfriend. “It kind of showed us that you really have to play to the last person in the arena and make them feel just as much as part of a show as the person in the front row.”
It won them a legion of screaming teen and tween fans, contributing to the breakout success of a self-titled second album, which is close to double platinum, and last year’s follow-up, “A Little Bit Longer,” which moved 1.5 million and actually won the group critical acclaim, including four-star reviews from Rolling Stone and Blender.
The past year has been huge for the Jonas Brothers, starting with the “Camp Rock” movie, the sold-out “Burning Up” tour, an American Music Award, two MTV Video Music Awards and a Best New Artist nomination. They lost that to Adele but won the night by getting to share the stage with Stevie Wonder.
“I think for us, the win was in performance,” Nick says. “Performing with Stevie Wonder was an experience that we’ll never forget, and we’re very thankful. We know that we’re young guys and that that was really, truly an honor and we’re so thankful to him and his team for making it happen.”
The past year has also brought a performance at the White House, a 3-D concert film that grossed a so-so $19 million and a Monkees-like Disney sitcom “JONAS,” which drew 4 million viewers for its premiere in May.
Getting parodied on “South Park” for the purity rings was another sign that the boys had arrived.
“I think we always like to, you know, be open to make fun of ourselves you know we’ll be the first to,” Nick says, in response to that. “We did it on ‘SNL’ and it was kind of fun.”
Brothers branching out
The tour that brings the Jonas trio to the Mellon Arena Saturday coincides with the release of a “Lines, Vines and Trying Times,” a fourth album that takes a few more chances, as bands have to do at this stage.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a big jump, but it definitely is a progression in our music and a growth for us,” says 19-year-old frontman Joe. “It has a lot of more kind of horns and a lot more strings. Also there’s more to the music rather than just a typical kind of relationship song.”
Partial inspiration came from an unlikely 68-year-old source.
“During the Grammy season,” Nick says, “we had the honor of being able to perform one of Neil Diamond’s songs, ‘Forever in Blue Jeans.’ And we were sitting in the audience watching people play all of his songs and really realizing how amazing his career has been and being inspired by his band and all that he’s done. So we tried to infuse that in some of our sounds as well and there’s some bands out of the U.K., the Zutons, who are really excellent and also I think we can all agree that the new Kings of Leon record is fantastic. So you know we’re just trying to grow and continue to learn and have fun.
“The songs that are on the new album are all things that we’ve really gone through, you know, personal experiences, that’s where we get all our inspiration from,” Nick adds. “But also we’ve been working on trying to use metaphors, in a way, to kind of mask a literal thing that happened to us. I think that, personally, Elvis Costello is excellent at doing that. And listening to his music and trying to do our best to imitate that gift that he has of being able to tell a story with using metaphors, I think is so, so cool, and we’re working on that.”
Interviews with Nick Jonas repeatedly come around to Elvis Costello, a name that Justin Timberlake, Nick Carter and Taylor Hanson never would have dropped. Nick and Costello even did an interview together for Rolling Stone.
That’s not to say that Elvis fans should run out and buy “Lines, Vines and Trying Times” or even expect any morsel of it to sound like him. (He might be saving that for later.) As the recent Rolling Stone cover story noted, the Jonases occupy “an enormous gray area” between teen-pop like ‘N Sync and contemporary rock bands like The Fray.
“Don’t Speak” is a stab at a song in the U2/Coldplay vein. “World War III” has more of Prince’s stamp. “Poison Ivy” has been rightly described as kind of “Weezer-ish” and “Don’t Charge Me for the Crime” is an urban foray with rapper Common that isn’t going to convince anyone that the Jonases are ghetto.
“We know we’re young guys and we’re on a musical journey, so it’s much in the process,” Joe says. “You know people’s perception of who we are as musicians and songwriting and things is not so much the issue, it’s just about us being able to learn so that you know our work can show who we are.”
How long that lasts is anyone’s guess. The Backstreet Boys had about six years at the top, ‘N Sync more like five and Hanson just three.
“We’re doing what we love and we know that our fans will grow up with us,” Nick says. “And although this has been said before, we believe in our fans and believe in their commitment and their, you know, loyalty to us, and we appreciate that. And we’re just so thankful that we’ve been given these opportunities and we’re going to enjoy every moment of it.”
While the three brothers progress, trying to avoid the mistakes and internal conflicts of other teen bands, they have a tight bond between them.
“For us it’s also about the family base,” Nick says. “We’ve made that rule No. 1 from day one, that making sure that the family comes first and that we focus on that. That’s the priority, and also we live by the rule: We live life if it’s at the top like we’re at the bottom, which basically means stay humble and keep the right attitude.
“A lot of people are surprised that we do get along and we are each other’s best friends. It kind of makes us laugh because you know a brothers do fight and things, but we just really don’t have the time.”

After five long diva-less years, there’s a new crop of pop stars set to claim, not to mention redefine, the title. Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Adele and Leona Lewis are slated to perform at this year’s VH1 Divas concert. The show, the first since 2004, will take place live on VH1 on September 17.
Cyrus, Adele, Lewis and Clarkson join a long list of esteemed singers who have graced the Divas stage, including Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Cher, Diana Ross and Beyoncé, to name a few. And although those ladies may seem more experienced in diva-dom, the show’s producer, Lee Rolontz, assured fans in a statement that these girls are up to the task. “Adele, Kelly, Leona and Miley have all captured the world’s attention with their talent and have earned their designation as VH1 Divas this year. Don’t let some of their young ages fool you — these women are among the best entertainers in the world and will continue to thrill music fans for a long time to come.”
According to the press release, more presenters and performers are expected to be announced in the weeks leading up to the show. As in years past, the show will also benefit the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.
The VH1 Divas series premiered in 1998 with Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin and Celine Dion. Subsequent shows included everyone from Donna Summer to Nelly Furtado to Mary J. Blige. The last concert took place in 2004 and featured Patti LaBelle, Jessica Simpson, Debbie Harry and Eve.

Age and distance put a strain on Demi Lovato’s fledging romance with Trace Cyrus, and the couple has split, Cyrus tells PEOPLE exclusively.
“Demi is one of my good friends and I definitely became very, very close with her in the past few months, and it’s something I really wanted to make work. But unfortunately, we both have very busy schedules – we’re both on tour right now,” says the Metro Station singer, who is also brother to Miley Cyrus. “I’m always on the other side of the world and so is she, so it just seemed like something that can’t work out at this time.”
Despite the split, there are no hard feelings between the two. “We gave it a shot and that’s all you can do,” says Cyrus. “Every time I hung out with that girl or talked on the phone with her, it was amazing. She’s someone I can totally relate to.
“But she is a lot younger than me,” Cyrus, 20, adds of Lovato, 16. “When someone is that much younger, you’re looking for different things in relationships. Maybe when she’s older and we’ve both matured, we’ll be looking for the same thing and it can work out.”
Even without Lovato in his life, Cyrus has plenty on his plate, as he kicks off a headlining tour in Texas with his band Metro Station. “Then right after that I jump on tour with my sister Miley,” he says, “and we’re going to be going all across the U.S. for a few months and then headed to Europe and the U.K.”

Nick Jonas gave Miley Cyrus a commitment ring! A family friend dished to In Touch [Via 4TNZ] that the ring was gold with a diamond heart: 'It's sweet and appropriate for her age. Of course, Miley thought it was perfect and beautiful.
They are a very happy couple these days. They are too young to marry, certainly, but who knows what the future will bring?'

Vanessa Hudgens has filed a breach of contract lawsuit against former music producer Johnny Veira, according to Radar Online. Veira filed a lawsuit against Nessa earlier this year, and it was settled on April 29.
The new lawsuit claims 'false advertising and appropriation of name and likeness, by using photographs of Vanessa on his company MySpace page, ones that suggest she's an active client.'
Viera is accused of violating their prior settlement agreement and he is banned from 'falsely holding himself out to the public as someone with whom Hudgens is currently signed.'
Vanessa is asking for damages, an injunction to stop Viera from using her name to acquire new business and anything that he might earn in doing so.

Trace Cyrus " Is it possible to breakup when you were never together with someone and only friends?"
I just got really confused... Is it possible to breakup when you were never together with someone and only friends? Hmm this is new to me
I miss the nights with u by my side. I hated the days I had to go away. I waited 4 u and u waited 4 me. I cant stay but I'll never leave
@mileycyrus I like what you just said. Making new mistakes can be good thing! Mistakes are what you learn most from in life.
Here we go again. A flight from London to vegas. It never stops. Metro US tour is about to begin! Jet lagged and exhausted but so excited!

On changing the 'Much Better' lyrics from 'Now I'm done with superstars' to 'Now I'm done with country stars.' They ignored that it happened, responding, 'What happens onstage stays onstage.' I think Joe tried to avoid the topic on "Much Better" by talking about World War III.
HIS PLAN DIDN'T WORK.
Nick, 'I did go see the college just to go check it out. I have always been interested in going to school in Chicago. I love Chicago. It's one of my favorite cities. And it was great just to see it. And that's where it's at right now. It'll be a while before I end up going anyway, because we're obviously very busy, but that's about where we left it off.'

Zac Efron is best known for his singing and dancing role in the “High School Musical” series but it seems that Zac is growing up and doing working his serious acting muscles in the new period piece, “Me and Orson Welles.” The film is based on the book by the same title and co-stars Claire Danes and Christian McKay. The story is set in 1937 and is about a teenager, Richard Samuels, who stars in an Orson Welles production of Julius Caesar and helps in the founding of Welles’ Mercury Theatre. Once he begins working, the Samuels falls in love with an ambitious production assistant.
Zac Efron said that the reason he accepted this role was because “It’s a completely different project than I’ve ever done before.”
The movie was shot on location in Isle of Mann, Pinewood Studios, New York and London for a little over three months. The director chose the closest replica to substitute for the real Mercury Theatre in England where many of the actors were from the Royal Shakespeare Company. The crew shot various locations in New York and the director had each street built in Pinewood Studios with a greenscreen placed at the end so that the New York footage they shot could be dropped into the background giving the illusion of 1937 New York City. The production design team changed the street by dressing it differently and the cinematographer would use different angles to get use the set for various different street locations without rebuilding entire sets.
Some of the film was screened at Cannes in 2008 to seek a distribution deal for the film; however, it failed to find a buyer there despite the appeal of the young star and Linklater’s impressive directing resume. Ultimately, CinemaNX picked up the film for distribution in partnership with Vue Entertainment which will share packaging and advertising costs. In September, 2009, the director will be given the Maverick Award at the Woodstock Film Festival. The reviews for “Me and Orson Welles” have been mostly positive and Roger Ebert called it “one of the best movies about the theater that I’ve ever seen”. Despite the positive reviews, Zac Efron was criticized for his performance by Todd McCarthy of Variety magazine who stated “Efron never feels like a proper fit for Richard”. Audiences will have to decide
