Miley Cyrus ice cream pole dancing performance of 'Party In The USA' at the Teen Choice Awards 2009 has sparked criticism. Us magazine senior editor Ian Drew told Newsday: 'She already has this risque image, so it really wasn't much of a stretch. That's how Britney took off. She was the good girl gone bad, and it looks to be working for Miley as well.'
Disney spokesperson: 'Disney Channel won't be commenting on that performance, although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience, kids 6-14, and consistent with what our brand values are.'
While Miley's adult actions may boost her career, it's not good for her
young fans. Child psychologist Wendi Fischer told Newsday: 'She's sending this message that this is 'OK' to do, and I don't think it is OK to do. Miley's only 16. Why is she rushing it?'
