  While their parents were making their rounds at 10 inaugural balls, the girls entertained new pals from the Sidwell Friends school – and had a surprise visit from the Jonas Brothers.
  In a scavenger hunt designed to help Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, get familiar with the White House, hiding at the end in the East Room was certainly an all-American treat: Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas!
  “They were invited to surprise the girls and their friends and [the Jonas Brothers] had a blast,” a spokesperson for Grammy-nominated artists and the teen heartthrobs said of the surprise, which First Lady Michelle Obama helped orchestrate.
  The Jonas Brothers, who came with their parents, were snuck in through the East Portico and played three acoustic songs and posed for photos with each of the young guests at the party.
  It wasn’t the first time the Obamas had met the trio. On Monday night, the brothers performed for the girls and their mother (and 14,000 fans) at the Kids Inaugural concert.
  Before the pop star pop-in, the group reportedly watched Bolt and High School Musical 3 in the White House theater.

• OMG! Thousands of screaming Jonas Brothers fans crammed Joe Louis Arena Sunday night, swirling their glow sticks, tugging on homemade band T-shirts and, totally jumping when the trio belted out tween favorites.
  But many in the crowd, which was composed primarily of the Claire’s set, had to thank not Kevin, Joe, and Nick for the chance to hear the bubblegum ballads, but the other Big Three.
  You know, like, the Detroit carmakers.
  Tori Ley, 7, of Westland was among the fans who got in thanks to the splashy auto show charity preview gala. Every $400-a-pop ticket for the Friday night event came with a Jonas Brothers concert pass. Friends who’d attended the soiree passed them along to her family.
  “They’re cute and cool,” she said of the well-coiffed cuties on stage, her own hair laced with glitter gel for the big night.
  She liked all three of the brothers Jonas equally, but Melissa Woy had a clear favorite: Nick.
  “Every time he sings ‘A Little Bit Longer,’ he cries,” gushed the 14-year-old Mt. Clemens resident, who was wearing a self-designed puffy-paint T-shirt crammed with Jonas Brothers trivia and doodles.
  Although most chaperones were moms, a handful of dads were on deck — more than a few fortified with concession-stand beer. LOL!

• DETROIT — It was like so awesome clean-cut fun you wanted to totally dance your feet off!
  If, that is, you could hear the music.
  The Jonas Brothers, the hottest boy band on the planet, delivered their catchy pop wrapped in smiles and fashionable costumes Sunday night at the Joe Louis Arena.
  The screaming that welcomed the Jonas family bore a nuclear-fusion feel, that started with the band’s orchestral intro and continued when a giant JB sign was lit aflame, and somehow intensified when the brothers launched into their hit That’s Just The Way We Roll.
  When they sashayed into Don’t Take My Heart, it sounded like they were singing what the entire crowd was thinking.
  The steam kept erupting for hits Hold On and the rocking BB Good, also a theme of the wholesome act.
  With grins, karate kicks and the occasional flip, these youngsters boast a confidence and stage presence that belies their age. And with that sort of reception, how can you blame them?
  Their reach keeps growing, helped by energetic stage antics and main singer Joe’s connection with the audience.
  The Jonas Brothers achieved their popularity through the children’s network the Disney Channel, and Kevin, 21, Joe, 19, and Nick, 16, have been gaining ground ever since — as the hysterical Joe Louis crowd emphasized.
  People who bought $400 charity preview tickets Friday night at the North American International Auto Show had a ticket thrown in for the Jonas Brothers. But if the ritzy car crowd expected a business-like environment at the Joe Louis — as they had Friday night at Cobo Arena for the comparatively ancient and sparsely attended Doobie Brothers — they had another headache-inducing thing coming.
  This was mass hysteria dressed in pink, waving glow-sticks and largely chaperoned by smirking parents.
  When opening act KSM, a punky all-girl band, strutted onto a high-pitched scream went up as if everyone had just won a free iPhone.
  Same goes for the next warmup act Honor Society, an energetic troupe of preppy boys in jeans and ties.
  But the Jonas Brothers forced the group squeal into ear-damage territory.
  The lads, of course, were playing to a receptive audience. And never mind that the Jonases have taken vows of purity, wearing rings to prove their commitment to abstaining from sex before marriage, not to mention declining drugs and alcohol.
  Amid a sea of ecstatic teens and tweens and kids as young as perhaps four, this was Jonas as religion. It seemed like every second girl in attendance wore a T-shirt professing some sort of love of the brothers Jonas — with the likes of “Mrs. Joe Jonas” emblazoned on the back.
  Windsor’s Ariana Ventrella, 12, attending her first concert ever with her friend Ciara Multari, 12, considered the event amazing.
  “It’s really exciting,” Ariana said from her main-floor seat. “I’m a pretty big fan. Huge fan.”
  “We like listening to their music and dancing to it all the time,” added Ciara. “We listened to it coming over here.”
  Take away the parents, and some bemused adults may have liked the idea, the average fan was about 12 — seemingly every one armed with a camera for souvenir hug shots and phones for real-time texting.

She then tries to make peace between them, but isn’t as successful as she hoped.

  The 16-year-old actress was spotted leaving the premiere of Hotel For Dogs with mom Mandy and M magazine caught up with her! Here’s what she had to say about the film: “I’m at my little brother’s [Jake T. Austin] premiere of Hotel For Dogs and I suggest you guys go buy it [go see it]. I’m going to go buy like 12 tickets when it comes out. I’m really proud of him.”

  The 23-year-old actor teams up with Twilight co-star Ashley Greene in the new flick, playing her love interest rather than her brother. Kellan stars as Conor Sullivan, a star lacrosse player who loses his father and drives his mother (Gabriella Anwar) up the wall. Conor is sent to a lacrosse camp and falls for the coach’s daughter, Brooklyn (Greene). Warrior hits theaters later this year.

• Don't believe everything you hear about Twilight and its sequels. Things are heating up already on the third installment, Eclipse. They haven't even started the second one yet, New Moon. When you've got a robust franchise, filmmakers are eager to get on board. Word is, the Spanish director of The Orphanage, Juan Antonio Bayona, and 3:10 to Yuma helmer James Mangold are both circling the project, but Summit insists that no meetings are scheduled as yet. Both would be strong choices.
  As to the last two unfilled roles in New Moon, vampires Jane and Aro, no offers have yet gone out, despite what you may have read. And the role of Leah Clearwater isn't being filled, because according to writer Melissa Rosenberg, she isn't in the script!


• FEARLESS still at the top of the charts becoming the first album by a female artist in country music history to log six weeks at #1 on The Billboard 200!! And that makes Taylor the first country female artist to have an album at #1 for six weeks! Taylor was also the first country artist to top the 2 million mark in paid downloads with three different songs!


• The CSI episode starring Taylor Swift will premiere in February or March. More filming was completed yesterday.

• The cast of JONAS stick close together at the 2009 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Friday morning (January 16).
  Joe Jonas, Nicole Anderson, Kevin Jonas, Chelsea Staub, and Nick Jonas put on their best smiles to talk about their new series, premiering on Disney Channel in the spring.
  In JONAS, the brothers star as Nick, Kevin and Joe Lucas who try to lead normal lives by attending private school, Horace Mantis Academy.
• Jonas Brothers have reportedly increased security after a group of fans began running off with their underwear. During their recent tour, the boys began noticing pairs of boxer shorts disappearing from dressing rooms.
  They initially thought it was a joke, but when notes began to turn up in their bags saying: ‘Your undies are safe with us.. The Undie Snatchers!,’ they hired more security staff to keep their possessions safe.

  Easy. One's the emo-looking one, one's the quiet talent, one's the...other one.
  I really don't blame you for being confused. They all seem to wear the same tie. There are no designated sluts within the band because all three of them wear purity rings. It's also really hard to find out who loves Jesus more, Kevin, Joe or Nick.
  Now, for some specifics:
  • Joe usually has the straight hair and always has the big, puppy eyes. (Per Kenneth Hein, managing editor of the Adweek Media Group and a teen marketing expert, "Joe is the emo-slick one.")
  • Nick almost always wears his hair curly, while Kevin, that wild man, may go either way.
  • If both Nick and Kevin are wearing their hair curly, and you REALLY NEED to tell them apart, Kevin is probably the only one of the two sporting sideburns.
  • In order of eyebrow heaviness: Joe (heaviest), Kevin, Nick.
  • Kevin is the oldest, at 21. Joe is 19. Nick is 16.
  • You may be able to tell them apart by their purity rings. Each of the rings supposedly reflects a unique personality. Kevin reportedly has a pseudo-rebel-style studded purity ring from Tiffany. Joe's is said to be simple silver with a cross on it. Nick, from what I understand, got his mesh-style ring at Disney World.
  • Only Nick plays the drums. If you see the band playing, and there's a Jonas brother on the drums, it's most likely Nick.
  • Joe does not play the guitar. If you see a Jonas brother playing a guitar, it's not Joe. If it's a tambourine, however, it probably is.
  • Joe mostly just sings and flashes the puppy eyes.
  Need more? How's this:
  • Joe reportedly flat-irons his hair. Nick only used to flat-iron his hair.
  • Nick once dated Miley Cyrus. The other brothers, as far as I know, did not.
  • Nick has diabetes.
  • Joe seems, like, really wild onstage, but he's like so quiet in real life. Kevin is the real extrovert. Nick is the core of the band's talent, the chief songwriter and, by all accounts, the best musician.
  • Nick was older before he was younger, while Joe is just plain older now that he's older. Here, this is what I mean:
  "I think we've grown into our personalities as we've gotten older," Nick recently told the Toronto Star. "At age 3, I was 30. I'm younger now. Joe was so shy when he was younger, but now you can't stop him. And Kevin has gotten so deep into his music, it's awesome."
• It's hard to imagine what will be more exciting for Sasha and Malia Obama next week: their father's historic swearing-in to the Oval Office – or seeing the Jonas Brothers perform live. "We know Sasha and Malia are fans of 'Burning Up,' so we'll be playing that," Nick, who will perform with his brothers during next week's Inaugural festivities in Washington, D.C., told reporters at a Television Critics Association panel for their Disney series Jonas Friday. This won't be the Jonas's first encounter with the First Family-to-be: Nick, 16, says the Obama girls beat him at ping-pong backstage at The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "[There was] a little pressure with the 25 Secret Service agents there," Joe Jonas, 19, piped up in his little brother's defense. The Jonas's Camp Rock co-star Demi Lovato is also Washington-bound. "I'm ridiculously nervous, to a point where I don't know what I'll be able to do with myself," she said. "It's a huge honor to be a part of this especially because it's not any just any other president. It's an amazing opportunity," said Lovato, 16, adding that she would be performing "Get Back" and "La La Land" from her album. Although she's not old enough, Lovato says she can't wait to vote and is interested in politics. "We'll get into political debates, me and my friends, and I get into heated debates," she says, adding that she won't share her viewpoints publicly. "I'm definitely private on that matter." With any luck, Nick Jonas says this won't be his last time in the nation's capital: "I've always talked about working in the White House one day," he quipped.

• Taylor Swift has scored a sixth week at the top of the album charts as her album Fearless continues to dominate sales well into the New Year.The country star shifted just 72,000 copies of the album in the past week, but it was enough to keep Nickelback, Kanye West and Beyonce off the top of the charts.Fearless has become the first album to spend six weeks at number one since 50 Cent's The Massacre in 2005.Nickelback's Dark Horse jumps up to two, while West's 808s and Heartbreak remains at three. Beyonce's I Am... Sasha Fierce and the soundtrack to hit movie Twilight round out the top five.The top debut belongs to DJ Skribble, whose Total Club Hits 2 enters the countdown at 16.

Taylor Swift sold 72,000 copies of Fearless — 17,000 less than last week — to take Number One. Nickelback’s Dark Horse jumped from five to Number Two, followed by Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak, Beyoncé’s I Am … Sasha Fierce and the Twilight soundtrack. Only three albums sold more than 50,000 copies, and the Number 10 disc, Akon’s Freedom didn’t crack 27,000.
