‘POISON IVY’ NOT ABOUT THEIR EXES

Attention Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Taylor Swift: The Jonas Brothers’s new song “Poison Ivy” – about a toxic relationship – is not about you.

“It’s a song about how something may not be too good for you, but you keep going back to it because you can’t resist the urge, the itch, to go back to the person,” Nick Jonas, 16, told PEOPLE at the El Rey Theatre in L.A., where the band performed a 30-minute set for 600 Wal-Mart contest winners on Saturday. “I think that’s something people can relate to.”

But, adds Nick, he and his brothers’ famous exes shouldn’t be worried – and fans shouldn’t assume – it’s about any specific person.

“Sometimes when we write songs, it’s not something we’ve been through,” Nick said before performing tracks from the group’s new album Lines, Vines and Trying Times, due June 16.

“It’s something that we’ve seen someone else go through and we say, ‘Why don’t we write a song about that?’ ”
